Aged Tree Palace Lantern Wenwan Walnut · 42mm · Natural · Select Ritual
$58.00
Originated from ancient original trees in Mentougou Beijing and Xinglong Hebei, this classic lion head variant gets its name for the lantern-like frame and skeleton grain, far more premium than ordinary grafted Palace Lantern walnuts. It features a natural heart-shaped peach outline with a slender inward waist, small crossed tip and iconic Mickey-style drooping big ears on both sides. Thick twisted muscle ribs extend straight down to the flat square base with eight radiating bottom lines mimicking palace lantern frames; top-tier specimens own square coin navel known as Royal Coin Base.
Grown on decades-old wild mother trees with extremely low annual yield, each ancient tree only bears dozens of qualified fruits per year, leading to extreme difficulty in pairing symmetrical matched sets. It carries natural reddish cortex, ultra-high bone density and heavy solid hand feel with crisp knocking sound. Packed with abundant native wax oil, it develops patina remarkably fast during hand rolling, gradually shifting from pink raw skin to bright ruby red, finally forming translucent agate vitrification glaze after long-term maintenance. Unmodified original aged-tree fruits are highly treasured scarce collectibles among senior wenwan collectors.
