The Blood Kirin Wenwan Walnut, also known as the Pinggu Dice Lion Head, is a premium traditional variety originating from Pinggu, Beijing, and Xinglong, Chengde. It features a medium-high profile, a compact square body, a small mountain-shaped tip, and a distinctive lotus leaf-shaped concave base. Its defining characteristic is the layered lychee-like texture that resembles the scales of a mythical kirin, giving the walnut a bold and highly recognizable appearance.

Its naturally reddish shell is rich in wax and oils, while the exceptionally dense structure provides a satisfying weight in hand and a crisp, resonant sound when tapped. With regular brushing and handling, the shell develops color remarkably quickly, gradually transforming into a brilliant oxblood-red patina with a smooth, translucent, jade-like finish.

Like many premium traditional varieties, Blood Kirin walnuts often display natural asymmetry and occasional yellow tip imperfections, making perfectly matched pairs increasingly difficult to obtain. Because of their distinctive scale-like texture, exceptional density, and outstanding patina potential, carefully matched Blood Kirin Wenwan Walnut pairs are highly sought after by collectors seeking one of the most distinctive Lion Head varieties.
