Official Hat derives its iconic name from its shape that perfectly mimics the mandarin hat worn by ancient Chinese officials—a symbol of prosperity and career advancement. The star variant, Kylin Pattern Big Official Hat, is famous for its bold, layered scales-like texture, thick solid walls, and impressive large size. Typically featuring a tall upright pile, narrow sleek edges, steep downward slope from the pointed tip to the shoulders, rounded full cheeks, and a flat or slightly concave base with small, neat, oblong air vents. The skin is a dense waxy texture, with a natural light golden or ginger-yellow raw hue, abundant in inherent oils—resists darkening, and develops patina quickly with a bright red color. The main veins are deep and prominent, secondary lines are delicate and interwoven; the edges are thin but rigid, offering a satisfying weighty feel in hand and a crisp, metallic clink when tapped. Patina evolves smoothly: pale yellow → warm orange → bright cinnabar → translucent jade-like deep red, with a glossy luster that becomes more prominent over time.
