Wheat Ear Tiger Head gets its iconic name from its neat, ordered, wheat-ear-like grain pattern—thick, continuous main ribs paired with dense, winding secondary veins that feel tactile yet not sharp to the touch. It typically features a medium-high pile, plump rounded belly, thick straight edges, broad “big ear” shoulders, and a flat base that slightly contracts (with oblong, distinct air vents). The skin is a rich turmeric wax skin with high density and abundant natural oils, delivering a satisfying heavy hand feel and crisp collision sound. Patination is fast and even: starting from pale yellow/ginger, it quickly turns bright orange-red, then deepens into a glossy jujube red and finally a mature oxblood red with a translucent jade-like luster. It is robust and crack-resistant, ideal for beginners; however, watch for common flaws like “yellow scarves” (yellowing under the shoulders) and yellow tips/negative skin when selecting pairs. Wild original-tree fruits are rare, with more compact piles and cleaner skin; grafted fruits are more accessible, often larger in size. It matures in early September, with stable market value and no excessive hype—perfect for daily hand therapy, beginner practice, and collector-grade pair hunting.
