White Lion Head stands out with its distinct cross-shaped tip seam and thick edges, plump belly, wide flat base—a classic chubby silhouette that sits stably on any surface. The natural variant (Triangle White) has a medium-short triangular pile; the popular Muffled Tip White (Men Bai) features a lower, rounder pile from cultivation techniques. The shell has a milky white to pale ginger waxy skin with exceptional inherent oil content and high density, delivering a solid, heavy hand feel and crisp metallic clink when tapped. Its texture is bold, well-defined main ribs with moderately deep secondary lines—smooth to the touch, not scratchy, and easy to clean/brush. Patina evolution is incredibly fast and consistent: pale yellow → warm orange → bright cinnabar red → translucent jade-like jujube red, with a glassy luster that deepens over time. It’s extremely beginner-friendly, while still prized by seasoned collectors. Common flaws to avoid when selecting pairs: yellow tips, sunken spots, inconsistent edge thickness, and asymmetrical cross-tip seams. Wild original-tree fruits are extinct; grafted fruits are widely available, with classic sizes of 39–42mm (43+mm specimens are premium-priced and sought-after). It matures in late August to early September (Laishui, Hebei). Ideal for daily hand rolling, quick-reward beginner practice, gift-giving, and long-term collection—loved for its reliable color change and comfortable grip.
