Dragon Cave Valley Lion Head Walnut
$28.00
Dragon Cave Valley stands as a classic old-style lion head with an instantly recognizable silhouette:short dwarf pile, mountain-shaped muted muffle tip, ultra-thick wide edges, plump toad-like belly, and broad flat base with radial lines. Its signature features include twisted/coiled grain (toad-pattern texture, not overly deep, easy to brush), small contracted rhomboid/oval spiracle (qimen) that won’t trap dirt. The shell boasts luminous crystal wax skin—a warm honey-white to pale amber glow, packed with natural oils, ultra-high density that delivers a heavy, satisfying heft in hand and a crisp metallic clink on tap. Patina progression is consistent and stunning: pale yellow → soft amber → vivid ox-tendon red → translucent jade-like deep crimson, building a glossy glass-like luster with daily rolling and brushing. Sizing typically ranges from 39–42mm (43+mm specimens are rare, premium-priced, and extremely hard to pair perfectly). Maturity season falls in late August to early September. Common flaws to avoid during pairing: lopsided piles, asymmetrical grain twist, yellowed tips, uneven edge thickness, and distorted spiracles. This variety has a wild heritage vibe, offering a comfortable rounded grip that fits most hands; perfect for both beginners seeking reliable color change and veteran collectors hunting for unique old-style character. Despite limited yield and pairing challenges, it remains a beloved gem in the wenwan world.
