Xuanwu is a rare and premium wenwan walnut named after the divine Black Tortoise, known for its ultra-high density and heavy hand feel. It has a sturdy silhouette with thick, blocky turtle-back ridges, wide strong edges, and a distinctive large flat base with a cross-shaped navel. The skin is fine waxy texture with rich natural oil, offering a crisp metallic sound when tapped. It colors quickly and evenly, turning from pale yellow to bright ox‑tendon red and finally to a glossy translucent jade‑like crimson with long‑term play.
